Drawing and Painting the Constable Way
Fri 24 to Mon 16 July
Four day session
This is a practical course that looks at a range of activities from sketching to paint studies to developed paintings. It follows the methods of Constable who would make sketches and paint studies on location, then use those observations to develop paintings in the studio. We will look at his practices in a presentation on arrival, followed by some ideas for gathering visual information in different ways in a sketchbook or drawing board. There will be a trip on Sunday to a Constable exhibition to see the real thing. Then return to explore composition principles as Constable did.
Developing Acrylic Techniques
Fri 14 to Sun 16 August
Three day session
Open to all levels, this course explores different ways to modify the media and techniques for particular effects. We will look at options for creating impasto techniques as well as glazing effects. There will be a range of examples to refer to along with demonstrations to show how to progress and apply methods that you prefer. A range of different additives and mediums will be provided to try out and you can also bring your own if you wish.
