Out of the Ordinary

This is an overarching concept and context for a range of artworks and installations exploring the use of everyday items in some way in the making of the work, either in terms of process or material.

Out of the Ordinary Outline

The key aspects of appropriation and transformation form a bridge between representation and the real. The subject matter and content of the work addresses notions about our changing connection to the world.  The work highlights the mundane, the ubiquitous and the overlooked, with the intention of reassessing and restating the obvious and the everyday in curious, quirky and sometimes poignant ways.

Tracing the Everyday screenprint series

All made by everyday items or what they produce to create an aspect of the image

Interference series

Interference is a series of observational drawings interrupted by tracings from newspapers of events outside of the everyday and beyond immediate presence. The tracings are embossed into the paper and interact and interfere with the emergence of the observed everyday representation.
